New Recruits Needed!

Please inquire by contacting any fire department member.

We had 3 members attend a 127 hr class through Riverland College for Firefighter I and II. They took two 150-question tests with practical tests to get State certified as Firefighter I/II. A couple members also took the 1403-Basic Essentials class.  We plan to send all members in coming years. We continue to get first responder and fire/rescue education from Riverland College. We also have to be re-certified every two years with Red Cross.

We are committed to excellence so we make every effort to attend medical seminars from Southeast Minnesota EMS in Rochester, the Arrowhead Conference in Duluth and at both the Franciscan Skemp & Gunderson Lutheran hospitals in La Crosse.  Several members have educated themselves by flying with area medical helicopters (MedLink from La Crosse, MayoOne from Rochester and LifeLink III from St. Paul).

Rescue Alive Equipment

On March 12th, 2005, due to the generosity of a Houston County couple and the logical thinking of the Houston County Sheriff's Posse, the Brownsville Fire Department now has a new life-saving device.

The versatility of the Rescue Alive device, which weighs 88 lbs but can support up to 600 lbs., is the greatest benefit to the department. It can be used on land or water.
